Like many others, you are probably wondering what good is the Apple iPad for. Steve Jobs makes it look so cool! But, it is really a “revolutionary” device?

No Multi-tasking = No Productivity
I'm all for simplicity. But when you have such a large screen and you can't multi-task, it's a horrible waste. It's not like your iPhone where you only use it for quick tasks, such as composing a short email. The large screen actually encourages you to do stuffs like editing your photos and creating Keynote presentations, but without multi-tasking, it's going to be frustrating to work on. Imagine having to refer to an email multiple times while making your presentation. Eww...

Adobe Flash Not Supported
Flash is still widely used. Nothing more frustrating than hitting a Flash-only website on the iPhone with no means of navigation. Try removing Flash from your computer and surf for a week.

A Little Too Squarish?
If you intend to watch widescreen movies on the iPad, say hello to thick black "letterbox" bars. The iPad has more of a 4:3 ratio aspect than a 16:9. It's like having a retro 4:3 TV again!

No Webcam?
No camera? Not even a webcam? Well, at least it has a mic for talking on Skype. Who needs video-conferencing, right? Righttttttt.

Book-reading? I rather get Kindle
Kindle uses e-ink technology. No backlighting, no glare, pretty much like regular ink on paper. The iPad can't beat that for comfortable reading, especially under sunlight.
So, it's not good for productive work. It's not ideal for watching widescreen movies. It's not perfect for websurfing. And it's uncomfortable for reading a book under sunlight. What does that leave us with? As a photographer, I imagine the iPad being awesome for showing photos to clients. It'll probably be good for playing 2-player Tap Tap Revenge as well. But is that it? Sounds extremely niche to me. Perhaps when it's finally available, the market will find new and interesting uses for it, and thus making it revolutionary. But for now, it really is novelty crap.
